Are you in the market for your ideal new small SUV? How about a performance crossover with the versatility of an SUV but the thrills of a sports car? Then the brand-new Dodge Hornet might be the crossover of your dreams. Here is what you need to know about the Hornet performance specs.

Dodge Hornet Engine Options

The Hornet comes standard with the base GT powertrain, a 2.0-liter turbo I-4 engine that produces 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The available R/T performance hybrid powertrain adds plug-in hybrid performance under the hood. The 1.3-liter four-cylinder PHEV powertrain produces 288 combined horsepower and 383 combined pound-feet of torque. GT models come standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission, while R/T models come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both the GT and R/T powertrains come standard with all-wheel drive, which provides exceptional traction.

Fuel Efficiency and Recharging

The Hornet GT has an EPA-estimated city fuel economy of 21 miles per gallon and an EPA-estimated highway fuel economy of 29 miles per gallon, and a combined fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon. We do not yet know the fuel economy of the plug-in hybrid Hornet R/T. However, we do know that when you equip your home in Saugerties with an available 7.4-kiloWatt Level II charger, you can fully charge the battery of a Hornet R/T in just two and a half hours.
