Hauling, Towing, and Off-Roading

The Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 all come in commercial versions that are ready to be your tough truck of choice. The Ram 3500 is the most heavy-duty of the three. The Ram 3500 boasts an available diesel engine that produces 930 foot-pounds of torque. This allows the Ram 3500 a max diesel towing of 31,210 pounds along with 30,000 pounds of fifth-wheel towing. Hauling capability clocks in at 7,350 pounds. With a gas (410 horsepower) engine, the max payload shifts to 7,350 pounds.

The Ram 2500

The middle level heavy-duty Ram truck comes in the form of the Ram 2500. Still a heavy-duty vehicle, the Ram 2500 doesn't reach the level of capability that the 3500 does, but it certainly is still impressive. The 2500 is capable of towing up to 17,980 pounds when outfitted with the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. The Ram 2500 manages a payload of 3,990 pounds as well as 25,300-pound maximum GCWR.

Engine Options

The Ram 2500 and 3500 share the same three engine options, those being: a 5.7-liter V8, a 6.4-liter V8, and a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel inline-6 engine. The most powerful of the bunch, the 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel, provides drivers with up to 385 horsepower and 900 foot-pounds of torque (version only available on the Ram 3500).
